3 things you need to know about "com-":

1, It is the word-forming element meaning "together, with";有“一起的”、“共同的”的含义；
2, It is from Latin com "together, together with, in combination," from Proto-Indo-European root *kom- "beside, near, by, with";来自于拉丁语单词com，意为“一起”、“合并”，最初来源于原始印欧语词根*kom-，意为“旁边”、“附近”等；（小编小编什么叫原始印欧语诶？小编莞尔一笑：“你继续往下搓～”）
3, It is reduced to "co-" before vowels and aspirates, assimilated to "cog-" or "con-"before "-g-", assimilated to "col-" before "-l-", assimilated to "cor-" before "-r-", or assimilated to "con-" before "-c-", "-d-", "-j-", "-n-", "-q-", "-s-", "-t-", "-v-".“com-”出现在元音或送气音之前，辅音[m]被省掉，变为“co-”；出现在“-g-”之前，受其影响同化为“cog-”或“con-”；出现在“-l-”前，同化为“col-”；在“-r-”前，同化为“cor-”；出现在“-c-”， “-d-”，“-j-”，“-n-”，“-q-”，“-s-”，“-t-”，“-v-”前，都同化为“con-”。↓"co-", "cog-", "con-", "col-", "cor-" all carry the meaning of "together with, in common".

认知，即思考的行为过程，使我们能快速处理大量信息。

4. confide  [kən'faɪd]v. 吐露秘密

From Latin confidere:con- "together" + 

fidere "to have faith in someone"

She finds fewer people to whom she can confide.

能让她吐露心声的人越来越少。

5. collapse  [kə'læps]v. 坍塌

From Latin collapsus: col- "together"

 + lapsus "a slipping and falling, a landslide"

The earthquake caused the road to collapse. 

地震使道路坍塌。

6. correlation  [,kɒrə'leɪʃ(ə)n]n. 相关关系

 From Middle French corrélation:

cor- "together" + relation.

Evidences all suggest a correlation between smoking and diseases.
